About John |
John Chapman specializes in live performance photography, shooting the majority of Center Arts’ performances since 2001, as well as Humboldt Brews since 2006. As a teenager in the San Francisco Bay area, John would bring his camera into nightclubs and concert halls capturing on film the mood and emotions of live performers. John started his photography career out of a love for both music and art. As a musician and a photographer, John understands the intrusion flash photography creates on both the performer and the audience. Using only available stage lighting, John captures the mood and feeling of the artist without distraction. Shooting digitally with a Canon 5D mk II, John has produced a collection of musical greats like BB King, Doc Watson, and Gov’t Mule, to name a few. Enjoying his 26th year in Humboldt County, John continues to expand his photographic documentation of music and the performing arts on the North Coast.
